Today's Beautiful Gem: "Universal
Prayer" (authors unknown)
"Raghupati

| (No translation | is attempted | as everyone | knows this song) |

"The Saivas worship Him as Siva;
To the Vedic scholars He is Brahman;
The Buddhists worship Him as the Buddha;
To the logicians He is the existence of proof;
The Jains worship as Arhanta;
To the enquirers, He is Karma;
The Lord of the Universe thus grants the wishes of various
people."
"saivaanaam eesvaro vishnur-vaishnavaanaam cha sammatah
deveeti saaktatantre cha budhdho baudhdha-supoojitah
arhanto jainadharmasya kraistaanaam krista eva cha
jehovaascha yahoodaanaam allaa maahammadasya cha
parairahoora maasdeti phaarseekair-kathyate
evam yajjyotiraabhaati tajjyotis-sham karotu nah
"To the Saivas, He is Siva; to the
Vaishnavas, He is Vishnu;
Devi in the Saaktatantra, and Budhdha to the Buddhists;
To the Jains, He is Arhanta; to the Christians, He is Christ;
To the Jews, He is Jehovah; to the Muslims, He is Allah;
He is called Ahura Mizda by the Parsees;
May the Eternal Light shining thus bless us all!"
Note: A few years ago, I remember to have read the third stanza
in the Digest. The first stanza is the favourite of Mahatma
Gandhi
whose birthday falls on Sunday. I request someone to publish in
the
digest the other Mahatma favourite "Vaishnava janato".
