Today's Beautiful Gem: Some passages of e. e. cummings

"i who have died am alive again today, and this
is the sun's birthday, this is the birthday of
life and of love and wings and the gay great
happening illimitably earth."

"(i do not know what it is about you that closes
and opens; only something in me understands
the voice of your eyes is deeper than all roses)"

"we're a mystery which will never happen again,
a miracle which has never happened before--"

"there's time for laughing and there's time for crying--
for hoping for despair for peace for longing
--a time for growing and a time for dying:
a night for silence and a day for singing"

Note: To-day marks the birth centenary of Cummings. Cummings
is unorthodox in his style and punctuation (the lower case letters
are deliberate) and is quite controversial. However, he has left
an indelible impression in the field of poetry.
