Today's Beautiful Gem: `Who will awaken?' by the Hungarian poet
Attila Jozsef translated by John Batki

"We have raised ideas that reach the stars from the brows of barren
hills. We shoot airplanes far far into the heights and with their
immense parabolic paths we have canopied over the realm of the
birds. We glide to distant lands on trains and tomorrow we shall
use electric ships to tame the howling long-maned seas. But people,
people, who will notice that our tables need scrubbing? Who will
tell our women that they can sweep out sadness? Who will plant
gardens in our eyes?

"Who will awaken the soul of our souls?"
