praNamati makaram+ adhovinidhaaya karecha-sharaM navachuutam.h ||
"When alone, with kasturi she pictures you in the visage of the Love god,
and below it she draws a crocodile (the vehicle of Manmatha) and an
arrow of tender mango leaves and then prostrates.
"dhyaana-layena puraH parikalpya bhava.ntam+ ateeva duraapam.h |
vilapati hasati vishheedati roditi chan~chati mun~chati taapam.h ||
"Immersed in thoughts about you, who are verily impossible to obtain,
she grieves, she laughs, she rues, she cries, she roams, and, she
recovers.
"pratipadam+idam+api nigadati maadhava tavacharaNe-patita+aham.h |
tvayi-vimukhe-mayi-sapadi-sudhaanidhiH+api-tanute-tanudaaham.h ||
"Every step of the way, she says: "O Maadhava, I have fallen at your
feet;
as you ignore me, even the nectar-filled moon is burning my body!"
"shreejayadeva-bhaNitam+ idam+ adhikaM yadi manasaa naTaneeyam.h |
hari-virahaakula-vallavayuvati-sakhee-vachanaM paThaneeyam.h ||"
"Seaparted by Hari, the grief of the cowherdess as narrated by her friend
is worth reading. The words of Sri Jayadeva, if they please you, are
heartily worth enacting."
