Today's Beautiful Gem: "As if words are made of gold..."
by Saint raamadaasa, translated by me from the original Telugu

"palukE ba.ngaaramaayenaa kOda.NDapaaNi
palukE ba.ngaaramaayenaa

"O Lord with the long bow
Why are you tight-lipped
as if words are made of gold

"palukE ba.ngaaramaaye pilichina palukavEmi
kalalO nI naamasmaraNa marava chakkani swaami

"Even when I try to speak to you
you remain tight-lipped
as if words are made of gold
As far as I am concerned
even in my dreams
I don't forget
to chant your name
O my handsome Lord

"e.ntavEDina gaani su.ntaina dayaraadu
pa.ntamu sEya nE ne.ntaTi vaaDanu ta.NDrI

"All my entreaties
are to no avail
you remain unmoved
with stony silence
I can't play games with you
and hope to win
I can't be stubborn
like you, my Lord

"sharaNaagatatraaNa birudaa.nkituDavu gadaa
karuNiMchu bhadraachala vara raamadaasa pOsha

"You earned the reputation
of caring for those
who seek refuge in you
Do take care of me
Lord of the
auspicious hill
and sustainer of
the great raamadaasa"
