Today's Beautiful Gem: "Where is my home?" by M. Udayakala

"I love the parades and the fireworks of the fourth of July;
I fondly remember the celebrations of the fifteenth of August!
Transpalnted from the land of my birth in the old world
To the land of opportunity in the new world,
I sometimes feel, I am neither here nor there;
I sometimes feel, I am here, there, and, everywhere.

"Even if people here throw eggs at my house
and ask me to "go back to your country",
I still sing: "This land is my land, this land is your land..."
Even if people there disapprove of my foreign ways
and ask me to "go back to your country",
I still sing: "saare jahaan se acchaa hindostaan hamaaraa..."

"Our planet Earth is a wanderer in the solar system;
In my sojourn on the Earth, I am a wandering pilgrim
Staying yesterday there, to-day here,
And tomorrow, I do not know, where!

"Where is my home?
Is it in the city on the River Penner where I was born?
Is it in the city on the dirty Cooum where I grew up?
Is it in the city of seven hills where I was educated?
Is it in the city on the River Vaigai with its tall temple towers
where I worked?
Is it in the city on the River Wabash where I first arrived here?
Is it in the city on the River Monocacy where I am now?

"Home is where the hearth is; home is where the heart is;
Home is where the family is; home is where the friends are.

"That land where I have friends and relatives is still my home;
This land where I have friends and family is also my home;
This biosphere and the whole human race is one big family;
This whole world, whatever the passports might say, is our home!"
