Today's Beautiful Gem: "Don't forsake me" by Devulapalli Krishna Sastry
from the film "Malleeswari" (translated by me)

"Enta haayi ee reyi nindenu,
Enni naallakee manasu pandenu ||

"How sweet this night is,
And after such a long time,
O, how full this heart is!

"Kommala guvvalu gusagusamanina
remmala gaalulu usurusuranina
alalu kolanulo galagalamanina
davvula venuvu savvadi vinina
neevu vacchevani nee pilupe vini
kannula neeridi kalayazoochiti
ghadiyayeni ika vidichipokumaa
egasina hrdayamu pagulaneekumaa ||

"When I heard the sound of the birds twittering in the branches,
When I heard the sound of the breeze fluttering the leaves,
When I heard the sound of the waves swashing in the lake,
When I heard the sound of the flute floating nearby,
I thought you had arrived, I thought you were calling me;
I was searching for you all around with tears in my eyes.
Don't forsake me and be gone even for a while;
Don't attempt to break this heaving heart."
