Kaun kehta hai mohabbat ki zuban hoti hain,
Yeh haqeeqat to nikhaon say bayan hoti hain !

[Who says that Love has its own voice,
This fact is only explained thru eyes !]

Woh na aayey to satati hai khalish see dil ko,
Woh jo aayey to khalish aur jawan hoti hain !

[When she doesn't come, some kind of pain bothers my heart,
But when she comes, the same pain matures !]

Rooh ko shaad karey dil ko jo purnoor karey,
Har nazaaray mein yeh tanveer kahan hoti hain !

[Which gives peace to soul and brightens the heart,
Not every scenery has such an effect !]

Sabt-e-sehlaabay mohabbat ko kahan tak rokay,
Dil mein jo baat ho aankho say ayaan hoti hain !

[How far can one stop the storm-of-love,
Whatever is in the heart, is expressed by the eyes !]

Zindagi ek sulgati see chita hai `Sahir',
Shola banti hain na yeh bhuj kay dhuan hoti hain !

[Life is like a simmering pyre 'Sahir',
Neither it turns into a fire nor it turns into ash !]
