Kabhi kabhi yun bhi humnay, apnay hi ko behlaya hai,
Jin baaton ko khud nahin samjhay, auron ko samjhaya hai !
[Sometimes just for the heck of it, I have
entertained myself,
Whatever I couldn't understand myself, I have made other people
to understand !]
Humsay poocho izzat waalon ki, izzat ka haal
kabhi,
Humnay bhi is shehar mein reh kar, thoda naam kamaaya hai !
[Sometimes ask me the condition of the honor of
honorable people,
By living in this city, I too have gained some respect !]
Us say bichday barson beetay, lekin aaj na
jaanay kyon,
Aangan mein hastay bachon ko, be-qaaran dhamkaaya hai !
[Ages have passed since we separated, but today
I don't know why,
Without any reason, I threatened the happy kids in the courtyard
!]
Koi mila to haath milaya, kahin gayey to
baatain kee,
Ghar say baahar jab bhi nikley, din bhar bhoj uthaya hai !
[If anybody met, we shaked hands; if we did go
anywhere, we talked,
Whenever I have gone out of home, for whole day I have carried
the weight !]
