To my dear ghazal lovers

Here is a beauty from the shaayar Sudarshan Faakir, sung by Chitra Singh in
the Album, Someone Somewhere. Enjoy!

1. meri dukh ki koyee davaa na karo
mujhko mujhse abhi juda na karo

[Don't try to cure my sorrows or console me
Please don't seperate me from 'myself']

2. nakhuda ko khuda kaha haiN to phir
doob jaavo, khuda khuda na karo

[nakhuda : a boatman; a person who rows the boat]

[If you have considered the boatman to be your god,
when you drown, don't call out to god for help]

3. yeh sikhaya haiN dosti ne hameN
dost bankar kabhi wafaa na karo

[sikhaya : teach; wafaa - loyalty]

[Friendship has taught me the lesson that,
[If you become friends with anyone, don't be loyal to them]

4. ishq haiN ishq, yeh mazaak nahiN
chand lamhoN meiN faisla na karo

[mazaak - joke]

[Love is love, it is not a joke
Don't make your decision in a few moments]

5. ashiqui ho ya bandgee(bandgi), 'faakir'
be-dilli se tho ibtida na karo

[ashiqui - romance; bandgee - devotion; worship;
be-dilli - disinterested, lack of interest]
[ibtida - start, beginning]

[Be it romance or be it devotion/worship, Faakir
Don't make a disinterested beginning]
