Subject: Anwar Mirzapoori ki ek Ghazal!

Hi

A ghazal by Anwar Mirzapoori, to keep you ghazalers pepped up. enjoy!

1. maiN nazar se pee raha hooN ye samaaN badal na jaay
na jhukaaO tum nigaahaiN kaheeN raat Dhal na jaay

[I am drinking from your eyes, hope that this setting/environment does not change
Don't lower your eyes; for the night may go away]

2. miray ashk bhee haiN iss meiN ye sharaab ubal na jaay
miraa jaam Choonay waalay tiraa haath jal na jaay

[My tears are also there in it; may the spirits not boil over
you, who are touching my drink; careful, for your hand may get burnt]

Reference here to tears from burning/red eyes, symbolically being so hot
that the "sharaab" starts boiling, and the person who tries to touch his
glass gets his hand burnt.

3. abhee raat kuch hai baaqee, na uTha naqaab saaqee
tiraa rind girtay girtay, kaheeN phir saNbhal na jaay

[Still, the night is not over; do not lift the veil my beloved
Your companion/drunkard/lover while falling down, might again recover and become stable]

4. miree zindagee ke maalik, miray dil pe haath raKhna
tiray aanay kee khushee meiN miraa dam nikal na jaay

[Master of my life, keep your hands on my heart
In the happiness of your coming, may my heart not stop(life not go away)]

5. mujhay phooNknay se pehlay, miraa dil nikaal lainaa
ye kisee kee hai amaanat, miray saath jal na jaay.

[Before blowing/incinerating/destroying me, remove my heart
It belongs to someone else; may it not burn away with me]

regards
Ramesh
