Check this ghazal by Nida Fazli (from Insight by Jagjit Singh) :

1. garaj baras pyaasi dharthi par phir paani de maula
chidiyoN ko daane, bacchoN ko gud-dhaani de maula

(Give water again to this thirsty earth, O God
Give seeds to birds/sparrows and sweatmeat to children, O God)

2. do aur do ka jod hamesha chaar kahan hota haiN
soch samajh waaloN ko thodi naadaani de maula

(jod - join/addition; naadaani - innocence)

(When has two and two added up to become four
Give innocence to people with intelligence, O God)

2. phir roshan kar zeher ka pyaala, chamka nayee salibeN
jhootoN ki duniya meiN sach ko taabaani de maula

(roshan - brighten; zeher ka pyaala - cup of poison; salibeN - cross
as in the Christian Cross; taabaani - brighten/to empower)

(Brighten the cup with poison, and polish the new crosses again
In a world of lies, give power/importance to truth, O God)

3. phir moorath se baher aakar chaaroN aur bhikar ja
phir mandir ko koi meera deewaani de maula

(moorath - idol; bhikar - spread; deewaani - one who is mad/possessed
about someone/something)

(Come out of the idols once again, and spread yourself around
Give the temple some Meera once again, O God)

4. tere hote koi kissi ki jaan ka dushman kyoN ho
jeene waaloN ko marne ki aasaani de maula

(Inspite of your being there, why is everybody after somebody's life
Let living people an easy/peaceful death, O God)
